Molteplici sono gli anniversari che la Mille Miglia può festeggiare nel 2017: la corsa nasce nel 1927, esattamente 90 anni fa, ma viene poi sospesa a causa della seconda guerra mondiale. Riparte nel 1947, ma 10 anni dopo a causa di un disastroso incidente avvenuto il 12 maggio 1957 a Cavriana (MN), viene definitivamente annullata. Nel 1977 si decide di ripescare dal passato questo glorioso evento, facendolo diventare una “innocua” gara di regolarità.

Giovedì 18 maggio, hanno preso il via 450 auto in rappresentanza di 39 nazioni di cinque Continenti. Tra il 18 e il 21 maggio saranno attraversati più di 200 comuni, 7 regioni italiane e la Repubblica di San Marino. Alla partenza la vettura numero 1 dell’edizione 2017, è stata una O.M. 665 Superba, in omaggio alla marca bresciana che vinse la prima Coppa delle Mille Miglia, nel 1927.

Il primato della nazione con più iscritti all’edizione di quest’anno va agli olandesi, con ben 104 vetture partecipanti. Tra i concorrenti: una Ferrari 166 guidata da una coppia di olandesi che l’hanno acquistata in Mozambico e Hans e Mark Hulsbergen, padre e figlio olandesi ma residenti in Svizzera e titolari di Villa Trasqua, una tra le più blasonate aziende vinicole del Chianti. Hans partecipa alla MM 2017 assieme al figlio, con una enorme Bentley 3 litre del 1923, che è l’auto più antica tra le partecipanti a questa edizione, e con una scuderia di altre 9 auto, tra cui le numero 1, 2 e 3.

Anche quest’anno non mancano i driver giapponesi,  fanatici delle fantastiche Bandini 750 sport internazionale (leggi quì la storia Bandini).

Tra i Musei che hanno inviato a Brescia le loro vetture ci sono Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz, BMW e Porsche. Novantadue sono gli esemplari che torneranno a Brescia dopo aver disputato almeno un’edizione della Mille Miglia, tra il 1927 e 1957, comprendendo anche le auto dei privati. Il lavoro di selezione, svolto da una commissione di esperti e commissari tecnici internazionali, è stato effettuato su 705 domande provenienti da 43 Paesi. Tra le prescelte, la marca più rappresentata è Alfa Romeo con 46 vetture (scelte su 72 iscritte), seguita da LANCIA con 38 (su 54 iscrizioni) e da FIAT con 34 (su 61 iscrizioni). Di seguito, ci sono Mercedes-Benz con 32 (49), Jaguar con 24 (47), Bugatti con 23 (tutte le iscritte), Porsche con 21 (35); le Aston Martin schierate al via saranno 17 (34) mentre 16 le Ferrari (su 17 iscritte), 13 le O.M. (ovviamente tutti gli esemplari di questa marca, costruiti a Brescia, sono stati accettati), 12 le BMW, 11 le Cisitalia e 10 le Maserati. L’elenco dei partenti è completato da altre marche, per un totale di 85 Case.

Sono state ammesse le vetture delle quali almeno un esemplare sia stato iscritto alla Mille Miglia di velocità, dal 1927 al 1957, in uno dei modelli presenti nell’elenco delle vetture candidabili, pubblicato sul sito ufficiale della gara. Per poter essere selezionate, le vetture iscritte dovevano disporre di almeno uno di questi documenti: Fiche ACI-CSAI (Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana), Htp FIA (Historic technical passport rilasciato dalla Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) o ID FIVA (Identity Card della Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens).

Parallelamente si svolgono il “Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia” e il “Mercedes-Benz Mille Miglia Challenge”, comprendente 150 vetture prodotte dopo il 1958.

Mille Miglia reaches 90 [English version]

There are many anniversaries that Mille Miglia can celebrate in 2017. The race was born in 1927, exactly 90 years ago, but is then suspended because of the Second World War. It starts again in 1947, but 10 years later due to a disastrous accident that occurred on May 12, 1957 in Cavriana (MN), is definitively canceled. In 1977 some of the old organizers have decided to make back to life this glorious event, making it a “harmless” race of regularity.

On Thursday, May 18, it took the street 450 cars representing 39 nations of five continents. Between 18 and 21 May, more than 200 municipalities, 7 Italian regions and the Republic of San Marino will be crossed.

At the start of the 2017 edition, the number 1 car  it was a superb O.M. 665, in homage to the Brescia brand that won the first Mille Miglia Cup in 1927.

The primacy of the nation with more members of this year’s edition goes to the Dutch, with well 104 participating cars. Among the competitors: a Ferrari 166 led by a pair of Dutch who bought it in Mozambique. Also Dutch partecipant are Hans and Mark Hulsbergen, father and son resident in Switzerland and owners of Villa Trasqua, one of the most emblazoned wineries of Chianti. Hans participate this year with a huge Bentley 3 litre of 1923, which is the oldest car among the participants in this edition, and with a team of 9 other cars, including the number 1, 2 and 3. 

Also this year some Japanese drivers fanatics of the fantastic Bandini 750 international sport (read here the history Bandini). Among the museums that have sent to Brescia their cars there are Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche. Ninety are the exemplars that will return to Brescia after having played at least one edition of the Mille Miglia, between 1927 and 1957, including also private cars. The selection work, carried out by a Committee of Experts and International Technical Commissioners, was carried out on 705 applications from 43 countries. Among the chosen, the most represented brand is Alfa Romeo with 46 cars (choices on 72 registered), followed by Lancia with 38 (on 54 entries) and by Fiat with 34 (on 61 entries). Below, there are Mercedes-Benz with 32 (49), Jaguar with 24 (47), Bugatti with 23 (all registered), Porsche with 21 (35); The Aston Martin deployed on the street will be 17 (34) while 16 Ferrari (out of 17), 13 the O.M. (of course all the specimens of this brand, built in Brescia, were accepted), 12 BMW, 11 the Cisitalia and 10 Maserati.

The list of the party is completed by other brands, for a total of 85 homes.

The cars of which at least one specimen were admitted to a thousand miles of speed, from 1927 to 1957, in one of the models listed on the list of eligible cars, published on the official website of the race. In order to be selected, the cars registered had to have at least one of these documents: Fiche ACI-Csai (Italian Automobile Sports Commission), HTP FIA (historic technical passport issued by the Fédération Internationale de la automobile) or ID Fiva (identity card of the Fédération Internationale des véhicules anciens).

In parallel, the “Ferrari tribute to Mille Miglia” and the “Mercedes-Benz Mille Miglia Challenge”, comprising 150 cars produced after 1958, are held.
