Sessanta veicoli ultra centenari hanno rievocato sul Lago di Garda la Settimana Motoristica Bresciana del 1899.

Sono passati la bellezza di 120 anni dalla prima edizione della Settimana Motoristica Bresciana avvenuta a Brescia esattamente nel 1899, qualche decennio prima che nascesse la Mille miglia. In realtà la Settimana Motoristica Bresciana non era costituita solamente da competizioni, ma si trattava di uno spettacolo a tutto tondo che puntava a promuovere l’uso dell’automobile e che racchiudeva in sé oltre alle gare, l’esposizione di nuovi veicoli, prove di auto, motociclette, aerei e imbarcazioni. Fu proprio in questo contesto che il nobile siciliano Vincenzo Florio ideò la famosa “Coppa Florio”, nell’immagine seguente uno scatto dell’edizione del 1907.

La Settimana Motoristica Bresciana durò solo cinque anni, ma creò una grande spinta per l’evoluzione e la diffusione dell’auto negli anni a seguire.

Dieci anni fa il Musical Watch Veteran Car Club, con il supporto e patrocinio di ASI – Automotoclub Storico Italiano, ha pensato di fa rivivere questo storico evento, riportando in strada fantastici veicoli centenari come quelli che all’epoca avevano partecipato alle manifestazioni bresciane.

La 11^ edizione della SMB che si è svolta tra il 30 agosto e l’1 settembre, è oggi di fatto, il principale evento italiano di carattere internazionale, riservato ai veicoli “centenari” costruiti prima del 1918. Hanno preso parte sessanta veicoli, comprendenti: automobili, tricicli e motociclette, un terzo dei quali provenienti da Francia, Svizzera, Austria, Germania e Inghilterra. Tra i partecipanti, a bordo di una Daimler del 1898, ha partecipato anche Adrian Goding (presidente del prestigioso Veteran Car Club of Great Britain), a fianco di Daniel Ward, uno dei più importanti collezionisti d’Oltremanica di auto “antiche”.

Partendo dal Museo Mille Miglia di Brescia il corteo di auto ha puntato verso il Lago di Garda, sfilando a Desenzano (BS), sostando a Rivoltella nel giardino della splendida Villa Brunati, per poi dirigersi prima a Bardolino (VR), poi a Monte isola (BS) e completando il giro al Museo Mille Miglia di Brescia.

The return of Settimana Motoristica Bresciana [English version]

Sixty centuries-old vehicles have recalled the Settimana Motoristica Bresciana of 1899 on Lake Garda.

Excatly 120 years has passed since the first edition of the “Settimana Motoristica Bresciana” that took place exactly in 1899 in Brescia, many years before the idea of creating the Mille miglia was born. In fact, the Bresciana Motor Week was not only made up of competitions, but it was an all-round show that aimed to promote the use of the car and that included in itself in addition to the races, the exhibition of new vehicles, car tests , motorcycles, planes and boats, and it was in this context that the Sicilian nobleman Vincenzo Florio came up with the famous “Coppa Florio”.

The “Settimana Motoristica Bresciana” lasted only for five years, but it created a great boost for the evolution and diffusion of the car in the following years. Ten years ago the Musical Watch Veteran Car Club, with the support and patronage of ASI – Italian Historical Automotoclub, thought to revive this historic event, bringing back to the streets fantastic centenary vehicles like those that at the time had participated at those events in Brescia.

The 11th edition of the SMB, which took place between 30 August and 1 September 2019, is today in fact the main Italian event of an international nature, reserved for “centenarian” vehicles built before 1918. Sixty vehicles took part, including cars, tricycles and motorcycles, a third of which, came from France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and England. Among the participants, aboard a Daimler of 1898, was also attended by Adrian Goding (president of the prestigious Veteran Car Club of Great Britain), alongside Daniel Ward, one of the most important collectors of “old” cars.

Starting from the Mille Miglia Museum in Brescia, the motorcade pointed to Lake Garda, parading in Desenzano (BS), stopping at Rivoltella in the garden of the beautiful Villa Brunati, then heading first to Bardolino (VR), then to Monte Isola (BS) and completing the tour at the Mille Miglia Museum in Brescia.
