Touring superleggera festeggia 90 anni

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera costituisce per gli appassionati di design automobilistico e sportivo, non solo una carrozzeria per la quale costruttori come Ferrari e Maserati, hanno optato nella ricerca della massima performance e leggerezza, ma anche il sinonimo di assoluta perfezione. Si tratta di vetture che da qualche anno sopratutto nelle aste anglosassoni e di oltreoceano, hanno saputo raggiungere altissime vette, essendo giustamente considerate a tutti gli effetti degli autentici capolavori d’arte, al pari di un quadro Van Gogh.

“Touring Superleggera, 90 anni di eleganza che anticipa il futuro” è esposta nello spettacolare contesto del Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile “Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli” di Torino. In scena dal 22 settembre al 20 novembre 2016, ripercorre con alcuni pezzi, modelli ed immagini i 90 anni di attività del marchio.

La Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera è stata fondata nel 1926 da Felice Bianchi Anderloni, padre di Carlo Felice, scomparso nel 2003. Negli anni il nome Touring è sempre stato sinonimo di eleganza, qualità e innovazione tecnica: il brevetto di costruzione Superleggera, che vede pannelli d’alluminio battuti a mano applicati a una struttura rigida e leggera in sottili tubi d’acciaio, è del 1936.

Una soluzione che ha permesso di avere una maggiore robustezza, leggerezza e rigidità. Proprio il brevetto Superleggera ha consentito a Touring di realizzare con pari maestria sia pezzi unici, che modelli prodotti in piccola serie.

La mostra ripercorre alcuni passi importanti della carriera di Touring, e si proietta senza esitazione in un futuro fatto di linee decise ed alte prestazioni, come quelle della Alfa Romeo Disco volante by Touring, rivisitazione della prima Alfa Romeo Disco volante.

La Disco volante by Touring è stata sviluppata sul telaio della 8C Competizione Spider e nel 2016 ha ricevuto il Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes, assegnato per Referendum Pubblico al Concorso di Eleganza di Villa Erba.

L’esposizione si apre con un autentico capolavoro di stile e design anni ’60, la Lamborghini 350 GT. Fu l’auto che nel 1963 proiettò Ferruccio Lamborghini nell’esclusivo mondo dei costruttori di vetture sportive. Per essa Touring Superleggera creò un design originale che contro la tendenza generale dell’epoca, metteva in secondo piano la calandra, lasciando ai fari il compito di caratterizzare il frontale. Il risultato fu di grande equilibrio ed eleganza, e contribuì al successo di questa prestigiosa Granturismo.

All’interno, la BMW 328 Berlinetta Aerodinamica non può passare inosservata. Touring mise a frutto l’esperienza nella scienza dell’aerodinamica per dare alla casa bavarese un’auto competitiva nelle corse. La vettura fu sviluppata alla galleria del vento del Politecnico di Milano, lavorando in particolare sul raccordo abitacolo-bagagliaio. Il risultato fu eccellente: alle 24 Ore di Le Mans del 1939 vinse la classe 2 litri e arrivò quinta assoluta; nel 1940 con poche modifiche e revisioni stravinse la Mille Miglia.

A fianco la Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS, appartenuta al nobiluomo biellese Conte Carlo Felice Trossi. Il famoso pilota/progettista commissionò a Touring una nuova carrozzeria che comprendeva non solo l’allora nuovissimo scudetto triangolare che diventerà il simbolo dell’Alfa, ma anche i doppi fari frontali, di cui quelli interni in posizione più alta del normale. La nuova vettura gli fu consegnata alla fine di febbraio 1946.

Tra i modelli più famosi progettati da Touring, si possono ricordare l’Isotta Fraschini Flying Star (1931), le Alfa Romeo 2500 Villa d’Este (1949) e 1900 Sprint (1952), la Maserati 3500 GT (1957), la Ferrari 166 MM “barchetta” (1949), l’Aston Martin DB4 e DB5 (1958), la prima Lamborghini 350 GT (1963) e la Lamborghini Flying Star II su meccanica 400 GTV (1966).

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera is for fans of automobile design and sporty not just a body for which manufacturers such as Ferrari and Maserati, opted in the search for maximum performance and lightness, but also synonymous with absolute perfection. The exhibition opens with a masterpiece of style and design of the sixties, the Lamborghini 350 GT. It was the car that in 1963 projected Ferruccio Lamborghini into the exclusive world of manufacturers of sports cars. For it Touring Superleggera created a unique design that warned against the general trend of the time, according to the plan, leaving the headlights on the task of characterizing the front. The result was a great balance and elegance, and contributed to the success of this prestigious coaches.

Inside the exibition the BMW 328 Berlinetta Aerodinamica cannot go unnoticed. Touring put to good use the experience in the science of aerodynamics to give the House a car competitive in racing. The car was developed in the wind tunnel of the Polytechnic of Milan, working in particular on the passenger compartment-trunk. The result was excellent: at 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 won the 2-litre class and came fifth, then in 1940 with a few tweaks and revisions easily won the Mille Miglia.

Beside the BMW, an Alfa Romeo 6c 2500 SS belonged to the nobleman biellese Count Carlo Felice Trossi. The famous driver/designer commissioned to Touring a new body which included not just the new triangular brand shield that will become the symbol of Alfa, but also the double headlights front. The new car he was given at the end of February 1946.
